The Impact of Renewable Energy and Economic Complexity on Carbon Emissions in BRICS Countries under the EKC Scheme

Economic complexity makes it possible to assess the development of countries, relations innovation, and differentiation products. The article considers links between hypotheses Kuznets environmental curve economic using panel data for group BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) from 1990 2015. As an econometric strategy, this study considered fully modified least squares (FMOLS), dynamic (DOLS), fixed effects (FE), Panel Quantile Regression. empirical results showed that complexity, income per capita, renewable energy, carbon dioxide emissions are integrated with first difference when applying unit root test. arguments Pedroni Kao cointegration tests were also used. According these results, variables used in research cointegrated long run. validated EKC hypothesis, i.e., capita squared positively negatively correlated CO2 emissions.
